ART PIECES

I’m Eduard Bocanegra, a Colombian artist living in Berlin for the past three years. Through my watercolor projects, I blend my cultural heritage with my contemporary experience in this vibrant city. My work explores fluidity and transience, using the medium of watercolor to convey emotions and urban landscapes that reflect both my roots and my new life in Berlin. Each brushstroke represents a connection between two worlds, where tradition and modernity meet and reinvent themselves. This exhibition is a personal reflection on identity, adaptation, and the fleeting beauty of the present moment.

This is the second painting in my tarot-inspired series, titled Noche Intrusiva, based on the Knave of Wands.

In tarot, the Knave of Wands symbolizes freedom, inner security, and the moment of awakening through wisdom and trust in one’s own body. In Noche Intrusiva, the figure is quiet yet observant—fully aware of their surroundings and grounded enough to move forward with confidence. They glance back briefly, but their body and spirit are already aligned with the path ahead.

This piece is a portrait of a man that explores the complex relationship between perception and reality. The idea behind the work is to reflect how people are often impacted or disturbed by the sight of blood, yet the subject remains untouched by any emotion or reaction. Through the use of soft, flowing watercolors, I’ve created a calm and serene expression on the subject, contrasting the intensity and potential discomfort that blood can invoke. The piece invites viewers to question how we perceive the world around us and how we internalize external stimuli, challenging the notion that appearances always align with internal experience.
